Our Story & Methodology

Beyond the Forecast

Why we built the proprietary G-Score™ to help you master the elements.

The Origin

"No Bad Weather, Just Bad Gear"

It started on a windy afternoon at a coastal link course. The standard weather app said "Sunny, 65°F," so I wore a polo. By the 4th hole, the Pacific wind gusts made it feel like 45°F. I was freezing, my swing was stiff, and my score suffered.

That's when I realized: Standard weather apps are designed for picnics, not for golf.

GolfWeatherScore.com was born from a simple need: to translate raw meteorological data into actionable advice for golfers. We don't just tell you the temperature; we calculate how the wind, humidity, and cloud cover will affect your "Real Feel" on the fairway.

What is the G-Score™?

Our Methodology

We developed a proprietary algorithm called the Golf Playability Score (G-Score). Unlike generic weather reports, the G-Score analyzes four critical factors:

  • Wind Gusts ImpactWe penalize the score heavily for wind speeds over 15 mph, which affects ball flight and body temperature.
  • Real Feel IndexWe calculate the "felt air temperature" based on humidity and wind chill, not just the thermometer reading.
  • PrecipitationMinute-by-minute rain forecasts to ensure you have the right gear to stay dry.
  • UV & VisibilityEnsuring you have the right eye protection for the conditions on the course.

* We process real-time data from OpenWeather API, ensuring our data covers over 13,000+ courses across the U.S. with precision.
