Captains Golf Course: Course Intelligence
Captains Golf Course operates on a piece of Brewster, Massachusetts Cape Cod land. The course is a 36-hole public-access municipal facility — the Port and Starboard courses — owned and operated by the Town of Brewster. The combined 36-hole property is one of the largest municipal golf complexes in New England and gives Cape Cod visitors significant ability to play accessible championship-grade golf during the summer-resort season. The courses were designed during the late-1900s expansion of Cape Cod public-access golf and have been continuously refined through subsequent decades.
The Port and Starboard courses each play around 6,800 yards par 72 from the back markers, with bent fairways and a slope in the upper 130s. The fairways play firm given the Cape Cod sandy subsoil. The native pitch pine and oak canopy through the property gives the routing visual signature consistent with the broader Cape Cod coastal-pine golf landscape. The fifteenth hole on the Port Course is a 525-yard par-5 along a natural pond; the seventeenth on the Starboard, a 198-yard par-3 across a natural depression, is the routing's most-discussed one-shotter.
Captains Golf Course is open to public daily-fee play at moderate rates by Cape Cod destination standards, with Brewster resident discounts. The municipal hospitality model has kept the pricing accessible despite the high-demand Cape Cod location and the 36-hole property scale.
Cape Cod climate gives Captains Golf Course a playing season of April through November, with the firmest conditions in September and October. The Atlantic-influenced marine breeze gives the property reliable daily wind. The peak member-day usage runs through July and August during the Cape Cod summer-resort season.
