Meridian Valley Country Club: Course Intelligence
Meridian Valley Country Club operates on a piece of Kent, Washington Seattle south-suburban land. The course was designed during the post-World War II expansion of the Pacific Northwest country-club landscape and has been redesigned multiple times since with continuing agronomic-and-architectural updates. The club is part of the broader Seattle-area country-club cluster that includes Sahalee (Ted Robinson 1969, 1998 PGA host), Broadmoor, and Inglewood Country Club.
The course plays around 6,800 yards par 72 from the back markers, with bent fairways and a slope in the upper 130s. The yardage is moderate by modern standards, and the routing's defense is the mature Douglas fir canopy alongside the fairway corridors and the green complexes set on natural rises. The fairways play firm given the Western Washington subsoil that drains slowly through the wet season. The fifteenth hole is a 525-yard par-5 along a natural creek; the seventeenth, a 195-yard par-3 across a natural depression, is the routing's most-discussed one-shotter.
Meridian Valley Country Club is private and access is members and accompanied guests only. The membership is regional Seattle south-suburban business and professional families. The hospitality model is traditional country club, and the club has stayed largely outside the destination-private trend.
Pacific Northwest climate gives Meridian Valley a playing season of March through November, with the firmest conditions in August and September. The course operates through the wet winter months with reduced play but rarely closes completely. The Douglas fir canopy through the property and the rainy season agronomy give the routing its distinct Pacific Northwest character.
