Soldier Hollow Golf Course: Course Intelligence
Soldier Hollow Golf Course operates on a piece of Midway, Utah Wasatch Mountain Range land that served as the cross-country skiing and biathlon venue for the 2002 Winter Olympics. The course was built after the Olympics as part of the broader Soldier Hollow Recreation Area, with the dual-season programming model that defines Wasatch Range destination communities — Nordic skiing and biathlon in winter, championship-grade golf in summer. The property operates two courses (Gold and Silver), both designed in the early 2000s and routed through the natural meadow-and-mountain terrain at the foot of the Wasatch peaks.
The Gold Course plays around 7,500 yards par 72 from the championship markers, with bent fairways and a slope in the upper 140s. The Silver Course plays a more accessible game at similar yardage. The site sits at 5,800 feet of elevation, which extends iron carry by roughly six percent compared to sea level. The native meadow grasses and the surrounding Wasatch peaks give the property visual signature distinct from the more landscaped Park City resort courses. The fifteenth hole on the Gold Course is a 588-yard par-5 along a natural meadow; the seventeenth, a 230-yard par-3 across a natural depression, is the routing's most-discussed one-shotter.
Soldier Hollow Golf Course is open to public daily-fee play at moderate rates by Utah destination standards — the pricing has stayed accessible despite the championship-grade routing. The hospitality model is built around the Soldier Hollow Recreation Area destination experience, which gives the property a different character from the private and resort country clubs elsewhere in the Wasatch Range.
Wasatch Range climate compresses Soldier Hollow's playing season into May through October, with the firmest conditions in late August and September. The course closes through Utah winter — the property converts to Nordic skiing operations from November through April — and reopens when the soil thaws.
