Elkridge Club

The Elkridge Club has operated on a piece of Baltimore, Maryland Roland Park neighborhood land since 1878 — originally founded as the Elkridge Fox Hunting Club, one of the oldest hunt clubs in the United States. The modern golf course was added in the early-1900s expansion of the broader hunt club into a golf institution, and the routing has been redesigned multiple times since the original addition with significant work through subsequent decades. The dual hunt-and-golf institutional identity gives the club a distinct character in the broader Baltimore-area country-club landscape.

The course plays around 6,500 yards par 71 from the back markers, with bent fairways and a slope in the upper 130s. The yardage is short by modern championship standards, but the routing's mature deciduous canopy and the natural Roland Park rolling terrain give the course defense that modern equipment doesn't overcome through length alone. The fairways play firm given the Baltimore-area subsoil. The mature canopy through the property has grown to championship-narrowing dimensions over the club's 145-plus year history.

The Elkridge Club is private and access is members and accompanied guests only. The membership is regional Baltimore business and professional families with multi-generation ties through the club's late-1800s founding. The dual hunt-and-golf institutional identity dating to 1878 is the primary modern emphasis, and the hospitality model is traditional country club.

Mid-Atlantic Maryland climate gives the Elkridge Club a playing season of April through November, with the firmest conditions in October. The course closes through brief winter cold snaps.
